Smeg Washing Machines

Interested in Smeg washing machines?  Out of all the washing machines out there, Smeg washing machines are one of the more popular brands, especially in the UK.  If you’re not sure if you should go with one of these, it would help to read up on a few reviews of some of the machines to get a bit more perspective on what you can expect.  To that end, here’s a review on one of the more popular Smeg washing machines out there which should help you out a bit:

1.  Smeg WMI16AAA

This machine is rated 3.5/5 stars over at CIAO(dot co dot uk).  It pretty much does what you need it to do as a washing machine.  You can change the spin speed of it from 1600 to 600 depending on the fabric you’re laundering, so it does have flexibility going for it, there is also a soap drawer above the machine which is divided into one for soap and one for fabric conditioner.

There are 3 programs in this each with its own sub-programs to vary the temperature and the speed of the machine.  You have the following:

Cottons ( Cold, 30 degrees, 40, 60, 60 with prewash, 75 with prewash and 90)
Wools (1 program, 35 degrees without spin)
Synthetics (2 programs, 40 degrees and 60 degrees, both of which are at 900RPM)

In addition to this, you also have separate programs that can be used on their own or along with the above:

Hardwash(no spin)
Softner only
Rinses
Drain
Spin (900 – 1600 RPM)

One downer about this is that the cycle times are very long, sometimes over 2 hours.  There is a fast forward button here but at best you can get it down to 1 hour and 20 minutes.  The shortest cycle is 49 minutes which isn’t too bad, but this can only be done on the synthetics 40 degree cycle.

As for the noise level of this device, it is pretty decent, you can hear that it is on from another room but it isn’t so loud its disruptive, it’s not going to spin out of control.

This machine will run you about 600 pounds which may be on the expensive side for some.

Again, this is just 1 review of one of the more popular Smeg washing machines, it’s not exactly easy finding reviews so this is all I’ve got for you.  There are several other cheaper Smeg washing machines available which may work out better for you though like the Smeg WM72141BK or the Smeg WM 61121, you may want to look into those.
